A Transatlantic Video Conference on Legal Issues for Successful International Market Expansion

On Thursday, February 24, 2011 we discussed the United States—European Union transatlantic economy. The United States—European Union transatlantic economy dominates the world economy with a combined population of the US and EU now approaching 800 million people who generate 50% of world production. Germany is the largest economy and largest exporter in the EU, and Texas is the second largest economy and largest exporter in the US. In both Germany and Texas, small businesses represent 99% of all employer firms, employ half of all private sector employees, pay at least 45% of total private payroll, and have generated 60% to 80% of net new jobs annually over the last decade. Yet, US and EU emerging businesses regard worries about intellectual property (IP) theft and litigation in the US courts as two principal legal issues. This session addresses these topics for German & Texas enterprises, in order to help maximize IP values and prevent lawsuits from devastating their businesses.

Attendees were able to hear from highly experienced speakers and discussion leaders on how to secure EU IP protection and tactics and policies on US lawsuit prevention. The speakers and their presentations appear below. The PDF versions do not have slide transitions or embedded audio; therefore, if you do not have Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or 2010, we strongly encourage you to download the free viewer here.
